	Hi All,
I applied the Racal RA6790 phase jitter test to the RA6830
synthesizer. I looked at the
RA6790 test procedure and found it very similar to the RA6830. One
difference was the
phase noise test where the BFO is set to 8 KHz and a signal is
pumped through the
radio and the audio is monitored with a spectrum analyzer. My HP8552
/ 8553 seems to
work well at 8 KHz after an hour warm up period. The test was
deleted from the RA6830
procedure. I checked 4 different synthesizer modules in 3 different
receivers. The result was
quite different than the RA6790 test specs. I would be interested in
some numbers from
	a RA6790 radio.
FREQUENCY dBC	RA6790 SPEC LIMIT RA6830
Measured
		100 Hz - 21 dBC - 60
to - 65 dBC
		200 Hz - 27 - 60
to - 65
		1 KHz - 42 - 60
		2 - 51 - 60

		ADDED TEST
		50 Hz N/A - 50
dBC

All of the RA6830 modules were within a couple dB of the above
numbers. I checked
both synthesizer part numbers and both performed the same.
