Hi All,
Gary W. found me an interesting synthesizer module that came out of
the Racal engineering lab.
It has 100 pf caps to ground on all digital inputs.
The power lead to the VCO was moved to the back
of the digital board. These changes reduced the narrow band spurs by almost
10 dB. I suspect a local regulator at the VCO may even be better. There were
no changes in the loop values. Someone must have been trying to clean up the
module EMI issues.
This is the 4100516 newer module. I have been trying to reverse engineer the
provisional components on the loop filter board. I found the two missing ICs
are a CA3046 and a 7808 regulator. Most of the missing resistors are 4.7
kohms. I'm missing a few values though like R68 and R69. This missing
hardware
was deleted but I would be interested in giving it a try
just to satisfy my curiosity. Anybody out there have any information on the
synthesizer built around the
RA019 LSI part? I think it was used in a number of different units. I could
use schematics to compare with my hardware. I suspect this was used after
the RA6790 time frame TNX,
