I sent John a reply on Tucker privately because it involves some second
hand information. I have the information on Test Equipment Connection in
my files to back up this story.
I set up a trade, detailed in writing, with Test Equipment Connection. My
college sent three HP calibrated noise sources in exchange for a list of
equipment like logic analyzers and time domain reflectometers. The
contract listed all the cabling, pods, clip leads, plug-in modules and also
included a variety of probes we needed for other equipment. Test Equipment
Connection sent two logic analyzers missing most of the sampling pods and
accessories and a TDR that was dead on arrival (but sealed as
calibrated). They totally ignored the list of separate probes, which were
a significant reason we went for the trade.
When I called, the shop manager admitted they did not have the items in
stock. I was stunned that they would agree to trade things that they did
not have. He told me he could send me a list of probes and pods that might
be suitable substitutes but nothing on the list matched the equipment we
own. In spite of detailed documentation showing the terms of the trade,
they refused to make good on their part of the deal. The salt got ground
into the wound by an offensively nasty account manager. I contacted the
college attorney, but the administration decided it was not worth the legal
costs.
Best,
