Hello Baruch:

When HF-2050 owners first started showing up on the List there was some
activity in the area of back lighting the display. One of the 'fixes' was
to use two very small fluorescent tubes about 10 cm long and the diameter of
a 1/2 watt resistor. The tubes were energized by a small power supply that
operated on 12 VDC if I remember correctly. The bulbs were placed on the
top and bottom edge of the display's glass and operated with some limited
success. The operation of the tubes didn't seem to generate any noticeable
EMI.

The archives of the List may have additional information. I would look in
the first six months of posts. I have forgotten the name of the surplus
store in Los Angeles where I purchased mine, but I am sure after 4 years,
they are probably out of stock.

Best wishes

Greg
