[Premium-Rx] RF-590 display **Found the problem**

Well I found the problem on why the unused segments had a slight glow,
there was no 6.2 V Bias to the Display Converter (the sealed box). VR1
(provides the 6.2 VDC from the 35VDC supply) was toasted causing a short
(really about 20 ohms) to ground. Luckily Radio Shack has 6.2 V Zeners
in stock so I'll pick one up tomorrow. Everything else in the converter
ohms out OK.

On another note I took a short road trip this weekend to pick up a
Harris RF-350K from ANA Instruments and while I was touring around his
warehouse I spied some Harris RF-7210A's Adaptive Controllers (looks
like a RF-590 and uses the same displays!). So I picked up a new one
with all the accessories. He had 3 or 4 used ones left "as-is" for $250.
If nothing else they are a source of VF displays.

I'm going back down to pick up a "New in the Box" RF-350K (didn't have
room the first trip!). He also had a Racal RA6790/GM, a bunch of Icom
R7000's, assorted MicroTel receivers and some other MilCom transceivers.
