[PPRAANet] SOTA Alert

This Alert is for Saturday, May 27th.  Shane/N0QLR, and I/KD8EQA, will be
activating mountains in the Sawatch/Mosquito Ranges.  

 

My plan is to activate Mt. Belford (W0C/SR-006) at 8:30am local. then follow
the connecting ridge/saddle to Mt. Oxford (W0C/SP-002) for a 10:30am local
activation.  I will return using the same route, so I will have a second
opportunity to complete my activation of Mt. Belford at about 1:00pm local. 

 

Shane plans to activate Horseshoe (SR-064)/Sheridan (SR-070) or Lackawanna
(SR-066).  His activation times will be similar to mine.

 

In all cases we will use 146.52 MHz for our 2m activations.  We will also be
using 146.52 MHz for our radio contact with each other as we summit.  So you
may hear us (or help with a relay) prior to our activations. 

 

We can't know ahead of time what snow conditions we will encounter, so all
our times are our best guesses at how long things will take.  Because these
summits are at or near 14,000 ft. ASL, anyone in the South Park area of
Colorado should be able to pick up our radio signals.

 

Thanks a bunch to those of you who can monitor and chase us. you make our
activations possible. and our many hours of hiking worth it!!
