[PPRAANet] Club Discord?

I have been using Discord for 5-6 years and am currently joined to several
servers, and I have also set up several servers in Discord.   It is a great
tool with many applications (and is free).  Some use it like a website for
the distribution of information (although it wouldn't replace the website),
and some use like a learning management system.   It is quite powerful.

It can be public or private, but I recommend that new members at least be
approved to have access to the main channels.   You can give members various
levels of access. For instance there could be a Board Channel that only
Board Members can see. We could also set up channels for studying for
license exams.    

I think that it is a great idea, and I would be happy to help.   Setting it
up and maintaining it is relatively easy (easier than maintaining a
website), but it does take a little work.   For the user, it is very simple
and easy to use.  Navigating all the administrative stuff isn't difficult,
but takes a little effort to master.  There are also many third-party
applications available for it.

Hello everyone,

I was curious to see if anyone would be interested or think the general
membership would be interested if I set up a Discord for the club. If you
haven't heard of or seen Discord before it's basically the next generation
of internet forum where members can discuss topics, share builds, pictures,
stories, etc. There are also voice channels and screen sharing capabilities,
where people can hangout and have online discussions. It could be a great
tool for helping new people get started as well.

The folks at Parks On The Air just set up a discord for POTA and so far it's
been pretty cool.
