[PPRAANet] Local communications on 40m

Hi, All
For those of you who don't know me, my husband (Tim KØCKR) and I recently did a test just like this on 80M. We used our website, ham2ham.net, to coordinate our test. Since all the people who participated were part of MARC, we used the MARC repeaters to coordinate the test simultaneously while on 80M. If interested, the information about the test and the test results can be found here: https://ham2ham.net/p3-80-meter-local-communication-baseline-test/ Prior to the test we collected info on everyone's QTH, their radios & antennas, and times they would be available.

In retrospect, there are some things we would do differently. We have since discovered that it was much easier to coordinate another test we did using Webex (Cisco). You might want to consider doing that with this test. (We prefer Webex over Zoom due to Zoom's privacy/security issues.)

We would like to participate in this 40M test, but cannot hit the CMRG 147.345 repeater. We can hit the CMRG Salida repeater but it no longer seems to be linked with Cheyenne Mt. If someone can relay with us during the test using the MARC repeater that would help us out. If you wish to try Webex, it's easy to set up an account and it's free. Tim would be willing to help out with that if anyone is interested.

All,

It might also be useful to collect some info in advance, in particular accurate descriptions of antenna(s) used for local comm, QTH (which can be obtained from QRZ.com), and successful and unsuccessful QSOs including stations worked, date and time, and power run. Any thoughts of other data that might be useful?

I'm retired as well so I have more flexibility as to schedules.

I nominate Phil to pick a new date/time, and an HF frequency, and we'll see if we can get a few folks on the air to experiment. Phil, if you pick a time that the 147.345 repeater is not occupied, maybe we can coordinate on that repeater, so one person can transmit at a time, and listeners can report results?

If you have a low antenna that supports local communications (NVIS as it were) and would be willing to test out 40m SSB, I'd appreciate chatting about and trying to chat on the air.
