All,

To those who have already volunteered and to anyone else who would like to be involved in the estate disposal move, here is the plan:

We have access to the property on the 16,17 and 18 of September. The majority of the equipment is located in the house with an outside storage building also containing a quantity of parts. There are two masts to take down. One has what is probably a 2 meter colinear vertical and the other is supporting a long wire HF dipole. Both easily removed. There is a window pass through for coax.
Inside the house most of the radio gear is staged in two rooms. There are at least 2 bookshelves with many reference books in them. The big issue is the workshop inside of the house. It's really full of test equipment and spare parts. We will have the services of a neighbor/ham friend who is well familiar with older test equipment and can advise if it is usable or not because of its age and serviceability.
This is going to be a big job and I'm not sure that Mike, wv7t, has enough storage space to absorb it all. I'm asking if anyone has room to store some of the excess until we can get it down to a manageable amount. A lot of it may end up going to Ellicott, but that's not ideal because of the distance.
I will procure labels and inventory sheets for documenting what is there and what it is. Make, model and serial number should do it. A colored sticker for radio gear and another color for test equipment should be adequate. Possibly another color label for misc. stuff that doesn't fall into the other two categories. The niece of the ham will need an inventory for purposes of accountability with family members and the lawyers involved. You know how that works, I'm sure.
  So, we will need:

  People to accurately identify items.
  People to accurately log items.
People to carry items to the transport vehicles.
  People WITH transport vehicles.
People on the other end to place items in storage.

This is going to be quite the undertaking, but we can do it. We will need a lot of help to clean out what is there and take the load off the niece so she can sell the house to keep the ham in the care facility. This is something we all need to think about for our own peace of mind as we age. The more we collect, the more we have to dispose of when the time comes. We don't want to saddle our survivors with what we think is treasure but in reality, isn't.
Please set aside a couple of hours to do whatever you can to help this fellow ham out. It's what we do.
