One of the projects planned for workday at the station is construction of a "western" boardwalk deck beside the trailer.
Material is on site including heavy duty pallets for deck base and light duty pallets to disassemble and use as the surface flooring,
rails and some smaller pallets for stairs. Part of the ramp came over with the move and needs to be included on the tongue end of
the trailer toward the back. We have landscaping solid blocks to support the pallets at a height to be determined. I would like for the pallet
deck to allow easy wheelchair access into the station. The blocks will need to stack 3 to 4 high to reach desired height. I plan on bringing
some mason line and line levels to aid in setting the columns. The pallets need to be screwed together where sides and ends connect to the
next pallet. Diagonal surface flooring will reinforce these connections but takes away from the boardwalk look .
The first link below shows somewhat the planI have in mind but contains a very very bad idea: He is using concrete blocks on end which
is an extremely weak direction. Our blocks are solid but concern has been expressed as to how to keep them in place. Boards from the center of
the small pallets and wire may be a solution.
I would like any that plan on assisting on the workday to look at the links I have included or search the web for decks made from pallets.
Thanks for reading, it is a big project and ideas along with muscles are needed.
