There are also different bodies which use different identifiers.  The International Air Transport Association (IATA) uses COS, whereas the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) uses KCOS, the Federal Aviation Administration Location Identifier (FAA LID) uses KCOS, and most of the nav charts I have seen show COS.

Only used KCOS if international. When used in the US, just use COS.
