[PPRAANet] New HF TRANCEIVER recommendation

Hi all,  

I have two requests. 

1.  I have an IC-718 that puts no audio out on USB but does OK on LSB.  Mike (WV7T) and I spent a few hours trying to figure it out.  No luck.  Any ideas? 

2. I am considering buying a more modern HF  transceiver, new or used,  so I can take advantage of the current modes and technologies.  All suggestions would be welcome.  Budget is very flexible.
