For those interested, we have added a spotter plotter training session at
the end of the weekly 2 meter net on 4 April (the CMRG continues to support
our club and their support is greatly appreciated). For those that may not
know, spotter plotter allows individuals to more accurately locate weather
conditions from amateur operators providing weather reports in the Colorado
Springs and surrounding areas. Anyone is welcome to take the training but
without the following software and search capabilities some of the training
may be difficult to follow and understand.

Those wanting to fully participate and get the most from the spotter plotter
training need have GOOGLE EARTH PRO software installed and operating before
the training occurs. The GOOGLE EARTH PRO software is free to download and
use. A link to the software is: https://www.google.com/earth/versions/.
There are multiple versions of the software and the one used during the
training will be the windows desktop version, due to the diversity of
platforms the software can be used on, support for the other versions during
the training will be limited (i.e. we just aren't that familiar with the
various mobile, web, and non-windows versions). Additionally, those taking
the training need to have access to an amateur license search engine (i.e.
FCC ULS, QST, or equivalent).

Dick, KD8EQ has volunteered to field questions regarding Google Earth and a
license search engine if they occur prior to the training and can usually be
contacted on the 146.970 repeater.
