In November I was at the DMV getting a new to me car registered and the lady asked me if there was anything else she could do? I said that I wanted to get a Ham plate. She looked up my call sign on line and had me pay $2 and sent me on my way with a receipt that she said was good until I got my plate in the mail. 3 weeks later I got my plates in the mail, all was good. THe lady at the DMV asked that I give an alternate selection in case the one I asked for was taken. I told her that there should be no way that it was already taken. For me it was pretty easy.

The form used to request a Call Letter plate, form DR 2810, very specifically says that "the number zero (0) may be used for Call Letter plates only."

Make that 8 states.

Went to DMV office in late September. DMV personnel had no better luck. Still waiting for a resolution. Suggest you get a license plate frame with your callsign on it.

That receipt should be all the proof you need until you receive your tag and registration documents. If you haven't paid any fee, then perhaps a trip to the DMV is in order after all.
