A couple of things:

On page 36 of the November issue of QST there is a nice article regarding
the RF Gain control on your HF transceiver.  For 40 years I have ignored
this knob except to assure that it was full to the right.  I know, I know
many have admonished me about this to no avail.  Well Steve Ford (editor,
QST0 did a really good job of convincinh me to try it out.  Made a believer
of me!



Second thing is and, I really feel dumb about this, I recently drilled out
some stubborn solder in a circuit board.  Turns out that the hole was a
thru plated hole. Was. Well, it turns out that I am nat the only one to
have perpetrated this wee transgression!  If you Google “how to repair a
damaged thru plated hole” you will find videos and suppliers for repair
kits involving tiny (real small!) eyelets for repair of said damaged thru
plated holes.  I haven’t tried ‘em yet but will as soon as they get here.
