First, to answer your question:
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 10:00 am at Hillside Gardens, 1006 S Institute St, Colorado Springs.
As a follow-up to what I mentioned before very briefly, I have several thoughts (of many) about Rick to share with you all.
I have been thinking about Rick ever since I heard. He was only about six years older than me. The other day I was remembering his call sign as KD0SU, as well as K0SU. I did a quick search and was taken to http://www.qsl.net/k0su/ - some interesting bio info. While reading that, I particularly noticed how Rick became a VE - through friendship with Bill Stanfill, K4YCD (now living in MS apparently). Bill was also the one who prodded me to become a VE upon gaining my Extra, and a few months later asked me to take over as VE team leader/liaison.
I think that the last few times I saw Rick were at the Colorado Springs Philharmonic concerts during intermission. What caused me to remember that was reading about his involvement with them in his obituary. The obituary also refers to involvement in ham radio and how he was a past president of our club. I am pretty sure I was on the board at that time, but don't recall if I was an officer - I remember him holding a board meeting or two at his home.
Rick is a great example of what I find fascinating about the ham radio community: It seems that you can make many friendships within. Not the type that are BFFs or that you have activities with daily, weekly, or even monthly. But it's more a matter of not being important how recently you met up, or that you may have differences of opinions about things, but that you just pick up immediately from where you left off, and continue on.
One of the main things that keeps coming to mind about Rick was this - He could appear to be genuinely irritated about something, but as you start to ponder what it could be, this impish grin would start to make its way across his face.
Rick, we're sure gonna miss you.

I met Rick about a year before I retired and moved back to Colorado Springs. We had many dealings over the years and many good times. It is 1:45 Thursday morning working on Field Day stuff and checked my e-mail to this stunning event.
Has the funeral already occurred?
