[PPRAANet] Media spot on Fox21/SoCo CW

Jim Bishop, KD0KQL, and I had fun a few days ago working with Christina Dawidowicz, the SoCo CW star of the Challenge Christina segment on Fox 21.  I had challenged Christina to build a ham radio antenna, talk to people on the radio, and pass an exercise weather report.


We met up on 9 July at the studio and proceeded to walk Christina through construction of a tape measure Yagi with a PVC pipe boom.   After it was constructed and we tested it with an antenna analyzer, we took it outside and let Christina make contact.  Dick Stuart, KD8EQ, came back to us and talked briefly to Christina.  We then had Christina pass KD8EQ an exercise weather report of hail at the major intersection near the studio.

We had a great time working with the SoCo CW/Fox21 staff and gave them a lot of great information about amateur radio and about ARES.
