Hi, Ernie.
Look on page 54 of the TS-480 Instruction Manual.  Your answer should be 
on the right-hand side of the page, "Erasing Memory Channels."
Go to Kenwood.com/USA/com to get a copy of the manual in case you don't 
have one.  (As you drill down, you'll run across a search box.  Just 
type TS-480 to get to the proper page.)
