Colorado ARES Leadership - Please pass on to all Amateur Stations.

*** EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE ***

MARS stations in FEMA Region 8 will be monitoring 60 meter channels at 0800, 1200 and 1800 local time (Starting tomorrow- 4 Nov, 2017) for 60 minutes  each time period to take reports from amateur radio operators.  No specific channel will be specified due to the overlapping propagation with other regions.  Any MARS station can take the information regardless of region or state.  Suggested method is to start  on channel 1 and move to another channel if no contact or QRM is encountered.  Amateur operators should call for "MARS Stations this is (their call)", wait for acknowledgement and then pass their information.  Do not make up situations but report actual conditions.

A website has been setup at (http://www.usarmymars.org/home)  for stations to report their participation.  A military HF station (on the east coast and the Fort Huachuca, Arizona) will conduct a high-power broadcast on 60-meter channel 1 (5330.5 kHz) on Saturday night from 0300 to 0315 UTC. New this year will be an informational  broadcast on Sunday morning on 13,483.5 kHz USB from 1600 to 1615 UTC. Amateur Radio operators should monitor these broadcasts for more information about the exercise and instructions.
