Will do. FYI, I recently recorded a 1 hour interview with FM low power station KCMJ regarding disaster comm and amateur radio. Should air on the 29th.

John,
I happened to have a face to face with Jim Arthur, of KVOR Radio at the last gun show. Of course, I brought up what we do in Ham Radio and he was quite interested.
Could you please put together a package of info from ARRL and ARES that I could deliver to him?
It may lead to an on-air interview. If I'm not able to do that for him, could you? I like to get these things started and then delegate them out!
Thanks again in advance.

ARES or amateur radio actually gets mentioned fairly frequently. I get notices all the time of articles and interviews where ARES or amateur radio use during disasters is mentioned across the US. Using Google's news search feature, I have seen several mentions in the last month. Last year, one of the Denver stations talked about us and interviewed our Section EC during the Junkins Fire and as a result, the reporter actually started working towards getting her license.

However, due in part to a lack of trained and motivated PIOs, we probably don't get as much air and print time as we could. Also, social media has been changing the way the news media operates, so it is imperative that those platforms get used more.

Hi,
Sorry for the digression, but why do you suppose that I have NEVER heard
any mention of ARES on our local or national TV news (NEVER!!!). Is
that because the ARES contribution is not considered significant enough
to be mentioned or are they just prejudice against Amateur Radio?
....During the black forest fire disaster, I even heard them
proclaim that; "...When all else fails, you can count on local TV to be
there for you..." Hay (and justifiably so), I always thought that was
our line!!!?
Respectively,
