Subject: Looking for volunteers
Hi John,
The Ascent Church in Monument (of which I'm a member) is hosting a 5K
Family Fun Run event to raise money, with 100% of the profits going to
schools in Districts 20 and 38, specifically to help fund programs to
address (and hopefully eliminate) the tragic epidemic of teen suicide
that the Pikes Peak region seems to be suffering from.
I have volunteered to head up communications for the event, and I could
really use a few more volunteers to help out, as many as six to eight,
at least. [This is my first foray into heading up anything like this
(though I've participated in several ARES events); I thought something
this small might be a good education...]
The event is Saturday, June 17; the race starts at 9:00am; I expect we
need to be in place by 8:00am, and will likely be done by 10:30am or so,
after which volunteers are welcome to hang out and enjoy the festivities
at the finish line: food trucks, games for kids, various vendors, and
live music. (Or head over to the nearby Pikes Peak Brewery which is
hosting an anniversary celebration there.) I have obtained permission
from Bob Witte/KØNR for the use of his repeater for this event.
Additional details can be found at <http://www.theascentchurch.com/5k>.
Do you think this would this be appropriate to send out to the ARES
list, with the request that any interested parties contact me directly
at this address (kn0tpc at not-pc.com)?
Thanks, and 73!
