ACTIVATION OF FIRST U.S.A. MINING AREAS ON THE AIR (MAOTA) WILL TAKE 
PLACE APRIL 26TH, 2017, AT THE WESTERN MUSEUM OF MINING AND INDUSTRY IN 
COLORADO SPRINGS!

I have gotten tentative permission from the Western Museum of Mining and 
Industry located at 225 N. Gate Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO., 80921, to 
set up April 26th from 7 am - Noon to activate the first USA mining area 
for MAOTA!  Mining Areas On The Air.  This is a French program created 
by Sylvie, F1PSH, where coal mines are in abundance, and that they are 
hoping to expand the program here in the states, and of course with a 
focus on our Rocky Mountain region full of mines.

The special event 1x1 call sign paper work was submitted for the call 
sign W0M.  We should hopefully know it in the next few days to begin PR 
for it.   I have asked for the 1x1 call sign for April 22-28 in case 
opportunity presents itself or if wx delays, etc......and/or we choose 
to find an additional locations to operate.

There are 4 French operators we will be operating at this event that 
could use volunteer assistance.    Under the reciprocation agreement, 
French operators can use the band privileges afforded to them by their 
license but have to stay within our USA band plans.  The control 
operator for this operation is AB0BX.

If any  of you would like to carry on an activation of a mine this year, 
please let me know.  Sylvie and I both agree this program has a lot of 
potential for growth. Certificates are awarded for contacts made.

If you would like to volunteer on April 26th,  we might have needs for 
gear.  Right now, we are planning on using an Yaesu FT897, a Hustler 6 
BTV and mostly operate PH. The museum is offering electricity, etc......
