Folks, there are three events on the weekend of the 24th & 25th which could use volunteers
Here in R2D2 (El Paso & Teller counties), there is the Colorado Springs Marathon on Sunday the 25th. This will be from about 7 AM to 1:30 PM. Go to www.ppares.net<http://www.ppares.net> and click under Event Signup Site to go to the sign-up page. We would like to have at least 14 volunteers.
In R1D5 (Douglas & Elbert counties) , the annual Tour de Cure is taking place out of Parker on Saturday the 24th, but it dips down into our area as well. If you would like to support this great event as we have in the past when it was run out of Colorado Springs, please let me know and I will forward your contact info to Jim Rooney, R1D5 EC, N4JJR.
In R5D1 (Fremont county), the annual Bikes & Brews event will be on the 24th and Amanda Alden, R5D1 EC, K1DDN could always use a few extra volunteers. If you are interested, let me know and I will forward your contact info to her.
It is National Preparedness Month. The ARRL has been posting readiness tips on their Facebook and Twitter accounts. Some are ham radio directed, some are more general. Please feel free to share them. Additionally, I recently participated in the joint ARRL & FEMA "Family Emergency Communications Plan" webinar. Some great info was presented. The ARRL will be loading the PowerPoint and the reference documents to the ARRL Library at http://www.arrl.org/library . Please feel free to look through them and share them with family or with any other organization you belong to, even church groups.
Good news on the legislative front! The Amateur Radio Parity Act, HR1301, was voted on by the House in US Congress and passed! Now on to the Senate.
