Recommend he go half wave, not full wave. An Alpha-Delta DX-CC would probably fill the bill nicely.

> I inherited my father's Heathkit HW-100. It is a 10 - 80 Meter radio, and I would like to get my license to become an operator. I would like to put a full wave wire antenna up. I have a few questions:
>
> 1) If I plan on using several of the 10 - 80meter bands, what would be the best length for the antenna?
>
> 2) What type of wire is best? (Gauge? Insulated ok?)

> 3) Does the length have to include the drop-down portion that will be vertical going down to my radio?
>

>
> Thanks. I am 7400 feet in Monument on 3 acres with some trees on our property, if that info helps.
