Second try on this email --
Last Friday, I telephoned Representative Doug Landborn's office to ask
about his position on HR1301.
I had contacted his office about four times last year and three times
this year, and had never received a reply.
To my surprise (or not), the person I spoke to at the Colo. Spgs. office
and at the Wash., DC office never heard of HR 1301.
I explained to the staffer at the Wash., DC office, what HR 1301 was
about, and talked about deed restrictions and HOA covenants. To that,
he asked me what an HOA was. So, I explained HOAs were.
He checked and said the bill had been referred to committee, and
probably the best way Rep. Lamborn could support it was to cosponsor the
bill.
I told him, yes, that's what I was requesting him to do.
I asked if I could receive a reply, since I never heard back from Rep.
Lamborn, and if he could send a reply that I could share with the local
amateur radio committee.
He agreed. Amazingly, he was able to get my name and address from an
email IO had sent on that subject (so those emails don't all go in the
bit bucket).
So here's the reply -- I just copied and pasted the text -- the reply
was on letterhead and signed by Rep. Lanborn.
Yes, I did ask for him to sign on as a cosponsor. You can read into the
response as you feel appropriate.
IMHO, our local community hasn't done a good job trying to contact him
on this subject.

Dear Mr. Madsen:
Thank you for contacting me in regard to H.R. 1301, the Amateur Radio
Parity Act. This is an important issue and I always enjoy hearing from
my constituents.
This bill directs the Federal Communications Commission to extend to
private land use restrictions its rule relating to reasonable
accommodation of amateur service communications. H.R. 1301 would make it
easier for people to participate in amateur radio. Currently, this bill
has been referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce where it is
being reviewed and debated.
I appreciate amateur radio operators. They serve our communities in a
helpful way by providing valuable services to their neighbors, services
which often include:
· Wireless communications support for community events
· Providing public service, search-and-rescue, severe weather, and
disaster communications for local governmental agencies and
non-governmental agencies (NGO), such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army.
· Providing communications support to the United States military through
its Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS).
Amateur radio still plays an important role in our country. Rest assured
that I will keep your thoughts and comments in mind when voting on this
piece of legislation when it comes to the floor in the House of
Representatives.
As always, I greatly appreciate your concerns and perspectives. Please
do not hesitate to contact me in the future on other issues important to
you. ... (html deleted)
Sincerely,
Doug Lamborn
Member of Congress
