Recommend phone calls and faxes. Emails tend to get ignored. Key talking points can be found in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMY-5U1cJ6E .
HOA organizations claim that people chose to live in HOAs, but the fact is that it is difficult to buy a home any more that is not part of an HOA -- it isn't that we chose to live in HOAs, it is that we simply want to have a home and a very large percentage of those happen to be in HOAs. For example, roughly 50% of Colorado Springs is under HOAs. We are not given the option at the time of purchase to join an HOA, it is a requirement which comes with the land.
The HOA organizations also claim that this will force them to accept huge eyesores. The Parity Act does not force them to do so. All it does is remove cookie-cutter rules and require the HOAs to give REASONABLE consideration to allowing an antenna. The reason can still include aesthetics and appearance, but the HOA needs to consider the request instead of simply dismissing it.
It may be important to bring up the fact that amateur radio operators do not have to be in a disaster area to be beneficial. In fact, hams who are hundreds, even thousands of miles usually spring into action during a disaster, usually operating from their own homes. Such was the case during the recent earthquakes in Nepal as well as during most hurricanes.

Subject: Amateur Radio Parity Act - Senate Phone Blitz
Hi All –
The following message went out this afternoon on the ARRL Facebook page. Similar messages have gone out to relevant SM’s and ARRL Directors and Vice-Directors for distribution.
Please help get the word out. Time is of the essence for this particular event. Thank you.
**********
URGENT: CALL TO ACTION!
The Amateur Radio Parity Act bill in the Senate, S 1685, could be scheduled for a mark-up in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation as early as next week. Opponents to the Parity Act have asked their members to call the Senators on
the Committee and express their disapproval of the bill. Their messages include the same negative tactics and lies about the Parity Act that ARRL addressed in our recent YouTube video, "The Amateur Radio Parity Act: Separating
Fact from Fiction."
If you are a constituent of a Senator on this Committee, we are asking each and every one of you to contact your Senators TODAY and urge them to support the Amateur Radio Parity Act. This simply cannot wait until later; calls from the opposition are already
coming into these Senators. We need you to act NOW.
Critical states: Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia.
Follow the link below for complete information on this development and a list of specific ways to help. Please share this with as many Amateurs that you can, making sure you copy this text in when you share.
Now is the time to let your voice be heard. Thank you.
