HI to all club members,
I would like to think those who use the club's remote station.  Currently, we have 14 amateurs with club privileges and 10 with transmit privileges.  Approximately 100 request for privileges have been denied as requesters were not club members.  The PPRAA board has limited usage to club members only.  Average usage per day is about a half hour or less.
The remote station was activated on 12/12/2014.  It is currently located at my QTH near Constitution and Academy.  It is in my radio shack and uses my Titan Gap vertical antenna internet access and electricity.  The original plan was to locate it temporarily at my QTH for testing until we had established a more permanent site, most likely at Ellicott.  For some unknown reason the site at Ellicott has not become available.  The intent was to never keep it at my QTH  on a long term basis.
Due to rather low usage and a more permanent location has not been made available the remote station will cease to operate on March 12, 2015.  That will give 12 days notice.  Additionally, the club's board and club general membership will have a regularly scheduled meeting in the meantime to find an alternate solution.
If anyone would like to host the remote station please contact me or the board.  It requires broadband internet access, 115 Vac power and a broadband HF antenna.  AC power usage is estimated at about $12 per month with 24/7 remote station power on.  The club owns the radio, computer, interface and 13.8 Vdc power supply.  I can continue to serve as administrator or pass that to someone else.  Administrator duties can be accomplished through remote access.
Thank you for your support of the remote station and 73.
Jim H.,  W0EM
