William C. Evans, Sr., 67, of Rittman and Colorado Springs, CO, died
Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland due to
injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born January 13, 1947 in Front Royal, Virginia to the late William W.
and Virginia (Duffield) Evans. Bill and Shirley were Active Duty USAF and
lived in Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, and the U.K.
Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and made his career in
the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1993 as a MSgt. For the past 8
years he has co-owned and operated Colorado Coolwear with his wife Shirley.
He married Shirley Jean Cain of Rittman on October 4, 1965, they had been
happily married for 48 years, and she survives.
Bill was a proud Cherokee Indian and was very dedicated to honoring his
Native American heritage. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling.
Surviving in addition to his wife is son, William Carson (Denise) Evans, Jr.
of Denver, North Carolina; daughter, Jamie Lynne (Tim) Jobson of Rittman;
grandchildren, Sebastian James Evans and Emmaleigh Marie Jobson; and sister,
Jeanie Thornhill of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Jennie and Jim Cain.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 22, 2014, at
Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman. A private memorial

am passing this information along to the PPRAA in the event that
some members were not aware of it. I was shocked to hear it, and only
discovered it while looking at the Silent Key listings in the current Issue
of QST. It is the obituary of Bill Evans.
Bill's call was WD4FNY.
Bill and his wife were long time residents of Colorado Springs and resided
in
the Stratmoor Hills South are, south of B Street. Bill's Obituary was
published
in the local Gazette newspaper on August 20, 2014. I missed it completely
as
others may have, also.
I spoke to several locals on the 2 meter frequencies that knew Bill, and
only a
couple were aware that he was killed in a motorcycle accident in Ohio. I
have
no further information other than the copy of the obituary shown below.
