> I am the one of the leaders for Boy Scout troop 223. We meet at Vista Grande Baptist church, located at Stetson Hills and Powers. I am also KC0IGP when I have my Ham hat on.

I have been associated with scouting in this area for 5 years and have not heard of anyone participating in this activity. At our monthly meeting of leaders, I asked other leaders of troops if they knew any troop that had participated. No one knew anything about JOTA.

It looks like it will be a sort of Field Day except for scouts are allowed to make contacts with other scouts with the ham as the control operator. The idea is to get the scouts talking to other scouts in other states. Since I am not a very active ham and most of my equipment is old and or broken, I will not be able to provide the radios  needed for this activity, or the expertise needed to run them. Would any of your members be interested in setting up an HF radio or other radios as the time and interest permits, and instruct the Boy Scouts how to make contacts and guiding them through the process. The Scoutmaster (KE5FVV) and I already teach the radio merit badge and teach proper ham radio etiquite during the course. The JOTA activity would now involve the whole troop.

> I have reserved the Youth Camp site in Palmer Park for the weekend of October 18 to 20. We can provide much of the support equipment in the way of large tents, tables, chairs, food and electricity for anyone that would be interested in helping us out. I know that the scouts will get interested in ham radio.
