Mike,
I use a Tomtom with a 5" display with a weighted (sandbag style?) mount that sits on the top of the dashboard. No telltale suction cup rings on the glass. Get the lifetime maps option with whatever device you get. Maps are updated quarterly.
To save battery, set the option to power down the device 10 seconds after removal from power. I've replaced my battery because I didn't set this option and the battery drained to nothing.
By the way. I calling mine "Nagging Nellie". My wife calls it "Bitching Betty." Listen to it when you miss a turn. 😊
