Colorado hams ops!
The Colorado QSO Party is just around the corner on Saturday, August 31.
This is a one day contest only and starts at 6:00 am MDT and goes until
10:00 pm MDT - put in as many hours for which you have time. All Colorado
stations are encouraged to be active for the QSO Party - remember, this is
the only contest where those out of state stations are looking to work
Colorado stations only for QSO points and county multipliers. The
exchange is easy "name" and "county", and operate 160m through VHF bands,
excluding WARC bands. See the 2013 Rules at: http://www.ppraa.org/coqp.
Two Major Rules Changes for 2013:
1. New, separated categories for Mobile and Portable
Since there was some confusion between the portable and mobile categories,
PPRAA COQP administrators have decided to separate these two categories -
be sure to indicate in your log for which category you are claiming.
2. Bonus Points for Mobile and Portable Categories:
Only for the "Mobile" and "Portable" categories, you will earn 500 bonus
points for each county activated - remember that at least two counties
must be activated to qualify in those categories and for the bonus points.
Advisory for Colorado COQP CW ops:
We understand that there will be an international contest "CWOPS"
operating during part of the same timeframe as COQP on Saturday, so there
may be congestion on or near the suggested COQP frequencies of 21050,
14050, and 7050. CWops will operate two blocks of four hours each at 6:00
- 10:00 MDT and 2:00 - 6:00 MDT and their exchange will be similar to ours
with name and a serial number. We hope it won't be confusing. COQP
participants are encouraged operate on or above the recommended COQP
frequencies on those bands.
Advisory 40 meters
Colorado COQP participants are encouraged to check the 40 meter
frequencies on the hour and on the half hour for other Colorado stations
for QSO points and county multipliers.
Please encourage your friends to be active in the Colorado QSO party and
we hope everyone will have a good time. Pass this message along to all
Colorado Hams and Ham Clubs.
