PPRAA Announcements ... plus a few other things:
1. Remember to change your clocks by 1 hour this evening (March 10th)
or Sunday morning (March 11th).
There are a few options available to accomplish this task (I
suggest choosing 1, and only 1 option)
a) you can set your clocks one hour ahead before you go to bed
b) set an alarm for 2:00 AM and set your clocks ahead right
when it happens
c) set the clocks ahead after waking up in the morning
Option "c)" provides an extra hour of sleep and a nifty excuse.
You pick what is best for you within the confines of having to conform.
2. The board meeting is this coming Monday, March 12th, 7:00 PM at
Daniels Taco located at 6817 Space Village Ave (see the PPRAA web site
for map and directions). Anyone is welcome.
3. This next Wednesday, March 14th, at 7:00 PM is the PPRAA general
membership meeting. The new location (through November) is the IHop
located at 5749 Stetson Hills Blvd,, just west of Powers Blvd. The
map and direction can be found on the PPRAA web site at
http://www.ppraa.org/meetings.php
Presentation topics this meeting include:
A. ECOM - upcoming activities and what to expect
B. Extending your HF rig to the VHF, UHF and microwave
frequencies; it’s easier than you think and fun.
The talk will center on the Flex-1500 and transverters but
will be applicable to all HF rigs.

6. Other happenings
- PPFMA is holding their annual meeting Sunday March 11th at Noon.
Location: Stetson Hills Police Substation, 4110 Tutt Blvd.
- PPARES - Weekly net is Tuesdays at 7:00 PM on the 146.97 repeater.
The weekly net provides information on Future PPARES activities
and may include on air training.
A side note about daylight savings time:
DST was first introduced in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson, a New
Zealand entomologist. William Willet independently came up with the
idea of DST in 1905. As an avid golfer, Willett disliked how his
afternoon golf round was cut short by early days. During 1916,
Germany and its allies in WWI were the first countries to adopt
daylight savings time to ensure consistent railroad times and limit
coal usage. About 70 countries participate in DST.
