Tatiana, Jon's wife, received this email for Jon's memorial in Florida- he taught a lot of kids amatuer radio- it is great to see him remembered this way.  Please feel free to send any comments to the emails below to be included- I have never heard of a ham being remembered in this way- I would think we would all enjoy such a jesture- I know I'll be listening in for his call-

We were all saddened by the news that Jon Hamlet, W4ZW, had become a Silent Key.  
 
As a remembrance to Jon, we are going to have a memorial service next Wednesday, February 1st on Siesta Key Beach, beginning at 5:15 pm, in the vicinity of the beach concession stand on Beach Road.  
 
A ham station will be set up on the beach using Jon's gold-plated paddle.  The station will be available for anyone who wishes to give W4ZW a call on 14,040 khz.  (FCG members throughout may also wish to call W4ZW on this frequency prior to sunset next Wednesday.)  CW was, of course, Jon's favorite mode, and it is fitting that we give him one last call. 
 
In recognition of Jon's service to our country, Taps will be played at sunset.
 
We are asking that anyone who wishes, write (or just speak) of their remembrances of Jon, and read them at the memorial.  We will collect what is written, and send it to Jon's XYL, Titiana Hamlet.
 
Everyone may wish to bring a chair or blanket to be comfortable.  FCG members are asked to wear their orange shirts in memory of Jon.
