Enjoy your hick this weekend. I am looking forward to seeing how the Flex
6500 fares with Sherwood. They are also using direct conversion (I think I'm
saying that right).

Did I mention the project I completed to send and receive PSK31 & RTTY?
The KX3, along with the K3, offers an 8 character scrolling display to
receive and sending via paddles.
I made it for the field, so it’s easier to work PSK31 & RTTY without a
computer. I’ll be QRP hiking with it this weekend.
My thingy sends via a keyboard (I use a mini) and captures the scrolling
characters to an 80 character LCD display. Much easier to read sentences
instead of characters flying by. Plus 10 stored messages, scrolling back to
beyond 80 characters (480), and more. Draws less than 20ma.
Got some good feedback from the KX3 Yahoo group, and am working with some
guys to make it available to others.
If anyone is interested, I can send a more detailed description and some
pics in its prototype case.

Hi,
Sorry to be grandstanding but just could not resist.

The recently introduced Elecraft KX3 tops the Sherwood chart. Not bad for
a 1.5 pound radio that is just slightly larger than you open hand. That
includes batteries and tuner delivering 10 watts on all modes. (100 watt
version coming by years end.) As little as 150 milliamps on receive. For
those technically interested it does not have an IF........just straight
direct conversion to base-band audio.
Take pride in the USA. 73
Jim, W0EM
