The following excerp is from The Feb. 2, 2011 edition of
QRZ DX Newsletter.

Thanks to a heads up from Barry, W2UP, I went to 30 meters
(10.104 QSX 10.105.7) and was able to work them yesterday
evening. They were also coming in pretty decently on 40 meters,
but as usual it was a real lidfest and frequency cops ordeal,
along with idiots tuning up on top of them and the usual other
things that happen when there is a wanted entity on the air.

I'm just happy I was finally able to hear them, let alone work
them. So, my Butternut HF-9V did the job and I was barefoot,
which adds to the joy of the contact.

Thanks, Barry.

Hello DXers:

Many of you in the upper U.S.A. are having to deal with that huge
winter storm and we wish you well.

VP8ORK is the "talk of the town" this week as they continue to work
down the pileups. No, they are not LOUD, but believe me, they are
workable. They can hear VERY well from the reports I'm getting and
from my personal observation. If I can work them on 80-15 CW with
what I have for antennas, almost anyone should be able to work them.
You still have several days before they wrap-up on February 8th.
As of 01/Feb/2011 14:43Z, 32859 QSOs have been logged. The on-line
log search is available for you at: http://www.vp8o.com/vp8log.html

VK0/H - HEARD ISLAND
If you didn't work Heard back in 1997, you probably still need to add that
one to your log. It is now ranked at # 5 World-Wide on the DX Magazine
Most Wanted survey. You could have the opportunity in February of 2013.
Chris, VK3FY and Steve, VK6IR are co-leaders in planning for a DXpedition
to Heard. They are proposing a 13 member team for a two week operation
estimated to cost in the area of $500,000-USD. The announcement says
a website will be established to keep everyone informed.

Until next time, enjoy the chase but HAVE FUN ! ! !

73,
Carl, N4AA
