Hello all,

TESTING - TESTING - TESTING

I apologize for the delay with the 2010 Fall Techfest email. There was an
issue with my email address and the reflector. The issue should be fixed
now. Again, apologize for the confusion.

As I mentioned at the PPRAA meeting this past Wednesday, and others have
asked about this Simulated Emergency Test ...

Pikes Peak ARES will be participating an a statewide simulated emergency
test this coming Saturday. Even though it's an ARES exercise, it is also an

opportunity for anyone interested in emergency communications in ARES to
come out and see a station participating in an emergency exercise, and to
learn more about ARES in general.

If anyone is interested in visiting one of the sites, please RSVP to me so
we can get an idea how many are interested, and I can get you more
information about where to go and when.

One site in Ellicott can probably handle additional visitors with no
problem. The downtown site has limited access and is in a controlled area,
so it is not as easy to access. We may not have the luxury of having too
many visitors, if any, at that site. Nevertheless, please let me know if
you are interested in learning about ARES.

We'll also be discussing the SET at a PPARES meeting tomorrow evening at
7:30 pm at the Gold Hill police station, 955 W Moreno. Anyone interested in

attending this meeting is welcome to join us.

And our PPARES net will be held on Tuesday at 7 pm on the 146.97 PPFMA
repeater. Feel free to check in and ask questions.

Please pardon the straying from ham radio content, but I saw these pictures
and thought I could/would/should share them with you.

Besides, a lot of us are veterans, so there is a link! And here is the

There is still a lot of room for articles and pictures. Perhaps you have a
favorite Christmas or ham picture.

Mike,

If I recall, it was suggested at the last Board meeting (you know, at the
place with the worst Mexican food ever) that the Board members write a bio
about themselves. May I suggest that this might be a good thing for the
general membership to do as well? It would give the members a chance to
know their peers in the club.

Just a thought for stuff to fill the pages of Zero Beat.

73,

Dick
