[PPRAANet] Technician Class Question Pools & Exams Changing

MARC, PPRAA, PPARES Members --

If you know anyone studying to take the Technician Class (Element 2) exam,
you might encourage them to take it prior to June 30, 2010.  The new Element
2 question pool and examinations go into effect July 1, 2010.  One other
thing to check -- if they recently purchased a Technician Class manual,
check the effective dates carefully, they might have been sold a manual
based on the new question pool effective July 1, 2010 -- in which case they
will likely want to wait until after July 1 to take their exam.

The PPRAA VE Session on June 12 in Colorado Springs will be using the
existing question pool and examinations.  The MARC VE Session in Woodland
Park on July 3 will be administering the new examination based on the
revised question pool.  

While not all questions change, there could be enough new questions to make
the difference between a pass and a fail to a candidate.

If you know anyone working on their Technician Class license, urge them to
check the expiration date of the question pool they are using.  This
information is usually on the front cover or in the first few pages of the
exam manuals.

The current question pool should say:  "For use only until June 30, 2010"

The new question pool should say:  "For use on or after July 1, 2010"

NOTE:  There are no immediate changes in the General or Amateur Extra
question pools or examinations at this time (see schedule below).

Technician class (Element 2) Pool is effective July 1, 2006 and is only 
valid until June 30, 2010.
 
NEW  Technician class (Element 2) Pool is effective July 1, 2010 and is 
valid until June 30, 2014.
 
General class (Element 3) Pool is effective July 1, 2007 and is valid until 
June 30, 2011.
 
Extra class (Element 4) Pool is effective July 1, 2008 and is valid until 
June 30, 2012.
