This weekend, Feb 27 & 28 is the North American QSO Party (NAQP) RTTY
Contest. It's a 12 hour contest (if my calculations are correct) and a good
way to pick up any States you may need for WAS in RTTY Mode or just any
States that you may need.
You can only work North American stations as defined by the ARRL's DXCC list
with the addition of KH6. Also included are KL7 stations, as well as all
Canadian provinces/territories and other North American countries. District
of Columbia counts as Maryland. Non-North American countries, maritime
mobiles and aeronautical mobiles do not count as multipliers, but may be
worked for QSO credit.
Bands are 80, 40, 20, 15 & 10 meters only. No 160 meters for RTTY. You may
work a station once per band.
The contest runs from 1800Z (11 A.M.) February 27 to 0600Z (11 P.M.)
February 28, 2010.
Output power is limited to no more than 100 watts. For this contest, RTTY
is the only allowable mode.
The complete rules are at: http://www.ncjweb.com/naqprules.php . Go there
to print them out. They are available in PDF format, 5 pages in length.
How about a good turnout from PPRAA members? If you need help getting setup
for RTTY I am willing to try to assist you. Just don't wait until the last
minute. I can be reached at 520-0288. I can also suggest macros that you
can use in the contest. Once you've operated in a RTTY contest, I guarantee
that you will be hooked.
Join the fun. Like last weekend it will be too cold to mow the yard or rake
up those leaves you've been promising the XYL you'd do. So you may as welll
have some fun on the radio.
