Hi,
I have had pretty good luck with facebook.  Not perfect, but that is the
nature of social networking.

Caution:
You probably want to have an antivirus that will pick up on attacks from web
based intrusion attempts, I used free AVG sucessfully to defend against a
false web security site.

Look at the privacy settings carefully, as you can easily expose more about
yourself than you may want.  My position is that likely you want to be
somewhat searchable, otherwise why bother?

The games and other little gizmos in facebook should be viewed with caution.

Fun:
You can expect to catch up with people you knew in high school, college, or
were stationed with.  It's amazing to see how we age.

Be careful what you write on your wall, because it shows up on your friends
walls, unless they make you hidden to ignore your posts.

Sharing pictures of events is easy with facebook and one of the best
features.

You can see when a friend is on and chat with them, via a little chat gizmo.


You can kill lots of time fiddling with facebook, which is fun for a
while... You can learn how to make short work of checking in once you get
the hang of it.

Have fun if you decide to set your self up with facebook!
