[PPRAANet] Colorado QSO Party

Decided at the last moment to operate QRP Phone. I did not want to get the
call from the neighbors with the cheap stereo speakers this year. Also, I
did not feel like defending last years first place for high power. I figured
someone else should have the challenge for that.

My neighbor John NF0P stopped buy and caught me in my contest
attire......good thing it wasn't 100 plus degrees! *hi

I now see why so many people like to operate QRP. It sure is a challenge
plus trying to pull out a name can be tough. Maybe next years QSO party we
can just ask for their dog or cats name for the exchange. That would sure be
a hoot! Colorado stations could use 14'er names or we could just all
use "Elbert". That would confuse them just as well! LOL

Anyway, last night on 3850 was fun. We worked Brian N5ZGT/P our Rocky
Mountain Division Director, Curt W0ALC, Alan KO7X in Wyoming with a booming
signal, KC0QXX/M who activated 4 counties (Bill should get the "ham spirit
award" ) Bob W0BH in Kansas, who is always active during contests and who
pulled out my QRP signal. Plus several others who endured my weak signal.

Most of all a huge thanks should go to the folks at PPRAA who make this
annual event possible. Its great to keep Colorado on the map!

Comments:

Great run early on 20. Shut down around 4:30pm for storms and took a short
break. 40 and 80 very poor conditions. QRP is tough this time of year on the
low bands. Thanks to those who pulled me out of the mud! 73
