[PPRAANet] Icom IC-706MkIIG vs. Yaesu FT-100D

I am in the market for a new radio and am seeking some Elmer advice.

I want an Icom IC-7000, but don't want to spend that kind of money. I 
see some FT-100D's and a couple of IC-706MkIIG's on sale for around 
$450. I am wondering what you guys think of the differences between 
those radios.

And also, can anyone make the case that I should spend three times that 
amount and get an IC-7000. For that money I can get a comparable radio, 
sweet antenna, a nice automatic tuner, some cabling and maybe a new key.

I will also be looking forward to any advice on setting this all up. I 
have been on VHF/UHF for a few years and want to try my hand at some HF 
fun, but this is a new horizon for me.
