HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Good Afternoon to Everyone,

As you may have heard I have decided to remain a member of the PPRAA and
remain the Vice President. This memo is an attempt to reduce rumors and
speculation. I sincerely hope this will clear up the matter. I want
everyone to know that I take the position of VP very seriously. I will give
it my personal best.

Several weeks ago I was faced with an issue that became a problem for me to
work around. Two club members came to me to ask if I would look into some
things. I felt the members needed to have their questions answered but I
did not know the answers. The questions asked were about the 0-Beat
newsletter and as to whether it was a benefit to members over and above any
benefit to nonmembers. They wanted to know why it was give to anyone who
wanted it including nonmembers. I began asking questions. This seemed to
cause some misunderstanding between myself and the 0-Beat editor. Due to
this she mentioned about the possibly of stepping down as editor in the
future. I decided rather than have the editor step down because of a
misunderstanding with me as a new person that I would resign from the club.

The 0-Beat is a positive asset to the PPRAA and amateur radio. A
replacement editor could be difficult to find and the loss of the newsletter
would place that valuable asset in jeopardy. I was not willing to place
myself in the spotlight as being the person responsible for the loss of the
newsletter, perhaps even only temporarily.

As a new board member I had several thoughts in mind that might help the
club. First, I wanted to get people talking and thinking about improving
the club. Next, I was looking for information to answer club members as
well as for my own information on club goals and problems. As a result I
suggested that the newsletter be made available to members a few days before
it was available to the general amateur radio audience. Members would have
a sense that their membership brings them a benefit. There is another
option; the newsletter online for members would contain more information.
Again these are ideas to give members an indication they are receiving some
benefit from their paid dues. Certainly there are many other idea. Please
submit them to the board for consideration.

We all need to work together to improve the club. I am more than happy to
listen to any suggestions.

Thank you for your understanding of what has been a difficult situation for
me and perhaps others.

73,

Ken

KD0AGV
