[PPRAANet] Gonsets Over the Top

   For the first time in more than 30 years 2 way communication has been
accomplished over the top of Pikes Peak by 2 Gonset Communicator II's.
Running 4 Watts into a beam on each end, tonight, this very night, 2 way AM 
voice communication was established on 145.35 MHz right over the top.
   The stations involved were w0rw near Cripple Creek and KG0SS in Colorado 
Springs, CO.
   FYI the FCC shadow loss charts  (47 CFR Ch.1, Para 80.769, p. 126) shows 
the VHF path loss to be about 30 dB.
The feat was copied by the members of the Gonset Net. KC0EIK, Gary, also was 
able to get over the top using a Japanese radio. Both ends were struggling 
with adjacent channel repeater and aircraft interference, (Gonsets have really 
wide receivers).
