[PPRAANet] Gonset Communicator AM Net, 8pm Tonight

   Drag that old Gonset Communicator out of your closet and join the
Gonset 2 Meter AM net tonight (Thursday) at 8pm. The frequency is 145.35 MHz 
Simplex in COS. 
   Actually back in the old days, before Hertz, we always called it 145.35 
Mc, 'Megacycles'. The Gonset Communicator Instruction Manual uses Mc.
   You can also check-in with your Heathkit Two'er or Japanese Radio.
Does anyone one want to volunteer to set up a 2 meter AM repeater?
How about a volunteer for an alternate net control station ?
   The purpose of the net is to get those old Gooney Birds out of the closet 
and back on the air. These radios maybe the only ones working after an EMP. 
   Once again your net control station will be 'w0rw' running 5W with a 
Gonset Communicator 2B. We will take check-ins and then open the frequency for AM 
rag chewing.
   If you want a Gooney Bird they are always showing up on eBay, but most of 
them are probably broken. The 3 Black Beauty paper capacitors used in the 
receiver usually always have to be replaced.
