If you like classical music from KVOD (Pueblo) and it is a bit too weak on
91.1,
COS now has a translator on 94.7 MHz.
i swung my beam around and it looks like it is coming from Cedar Heights.
Should be good in the car too.

Please listen for the WD2XSH/21 Low Frequency Beacon.
The WD2XSH/21 Beacon is in Colorado Springs on 506.500 kHz, time slot #21.
It is in a nation wide time rotation beacon system sending only at 21 minutes
and 51 minutes past the hour continuously (24/7). Use your WWV clock for
exact timimg. Transmissions are at 20 WPM for one minute. If you can't copy CW you
will be able to identify the signal by its timing.
The power output of the beacon is 100W as aauthorized by the FCC. The
antenna is a 30 foot vertical.
You might have to disconnect your antenna tuner, balun, etc. and hook on
your biggest antenna to your receiver to hear the signal.
Some Japanese (e.g: Kenwood) radios have an internal 20 dB attenuator
that is automatically cut in for the Broadcast band (500 to 1600 kHz). It may
have to be by-passed for optimum operation.
Lamp dimmers and computer displays and power supplies can also cause a lot
of noise that will mask out low frequency signals.
The FCC's Office of Engineering and Technology on September 13 granted Part
5 experimental license WD2XSH to the ARRL on behalf of a group of radio
amateurs interested in investigating spectrum in the vicinity of 500 kHz.
The authorization permits experimentation and research between 505
and 510 kHz (600 meters) using narrowband modes at power levels of up to 20
W effective radiated power (ERP).
You can get the latest beacon happenings by subscribing to the 600 Meter
Research Group email list. Send 600MRG subscribe request to
