Update on Dean Haskins, KAØPII
I just noticed that I neglected to include the street address for Memorial
Hospital in previous messages, hopefully the PO will deliver them anyway
(the zip code was correct). The corrected address is below, my apologies
for the oversight.
Dean Haskins, KAØPII
ICU Room 4642
c/o Memorial Hospital
1400 E. Boulder Street
Colorado Springs, CO 80909
Below is an update from Dean's wife, Lucie, on his condition/situation.
Thanks everyone for your continued thoughts, prayers and cards!

> Dean was admitted to Trauma-ICU at Memorial Hospital where he remains.
> The neurosurgeon is reasonably/very optimistic (depending on who you
> talk to) that Dean will continue his recovery.

> We learned that the first 48-72 hours were the most critical for
> injuries such as his. Big problems were bleeding in the brain and
> swelling of the brain. It was just something that needed to be
monitored
> very closely without much actual intervention that could be performed
> ... Dean had CAT scans about once a day since Sunday to monitor the
> bleeding. The good news is that the new bleeding has stopped and the
> pressure has stopped increasing. We're just hoping now that the blood
> starts getting absorbed and the pressure/swelling goes down.

> Dean hasn't regained consciousness yet but has moved all his limbs (so
> he's not paralyzed) and has opened both eyes briefly. At this point in
> time, we'll take all of these signs as positives...
>
> It's just a waiting game now, as I mentioned before. The kids and I
are
> taking turns being with him at the hospital. We feel very comfortable
> with the care that he is being given but just want him to be
surrounded
> by family as much as possible.
>
> A list of the injuries as I understand them:
> - shattered ear drum (right ear)
> - broken nose/cartilage in nose
> - 1st rib broken
> - lacerations on back of head (requiring 4-5 staples)
> - bruised lung
> - traumatized brain (bleeding and swelling)
> - other cuts and bruises
>
> I'll try to write as time permits and as his condition changes. Right
> now he seems stabilized and we just continue to pray that his recovery
> progresses smoothly.
>
> Love to all.
