Last year at one of the club meetings I asked those present
if the PPRAA would like to support public service events where
the duties might include "course marshall" as well as communications.
Those present at the meeting indicated that they would like to
do so.

There are several this year that fall in that catagory. The
first one is the Starlight Spectacular bicycle ride in June.
This event benefits the Trails and Open Space Coalition (TOSC).

Date: Saturday, June 17 (and Sunday AM, June 18).
Time:  2200-0500.

Note that this event starts Saturday night and finishes Sunday
morning.

We could probably use several people who want to act as "rovers"
who would drive their own vehicle on the course.

============================

The second event is the American Discovery Trail Marathon (ADTM).

Date: Labor Day, September 4.
Time:  0530-1400

This event takes place on the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail, the trail
that runs along Monument Creek. We would be positioned at various
locations along the course and provide course marshall duties where
we could use our communications to assist. I was also asked if
we could provide someone to go out with the supply truck early in
the morning and provide communications back to the race director.
I would also want someone to shadow the race director.

===============================

So, I invite anyone interested in helping with either (or both)
of these events to respond to me with a return email.

73 and thanks!

Mike Stansberry, K0TER
