[PPRAANet] Results of the August Fox Hunt

The August foxhunt was held on Saturday, August 27th.  Jim (K0LOB) and Jackie (KC0QHI) had the pleasure of hiding the fox for this hunt.  The following three teams participated:

Team 1 - Jim Harris, AB0UK
Team 2 - Dave Kurth, N0UVR
Team 3 - Mike (K0MLA), Susan (KC0SYA), Jessica and Samantha Allison

The fox was well hidden in a bush on Rampart Range Road, just above the Balancing Rock in Garden of the Gods.  The fox's transmission was started promptly at 1:00 PM.  Provisions were added to allow APRSers and GeoCachers to participate as well, but no one from those two camps showed up for the fox hunt.

Jackie and I waited for another 30 minutes before leaving the starting point, which was Grand Overview in Palmer Park.  We drove straight to the fox as it had started to rain.  It wasn't long after we checked on the fox that the hunters began to arrive at the scene.  All three teams did a good job getting to the general location.  The close in work proved to be a bit challenging.  The fox was hidden well enough that many of the hunters walked right passed it a number of times.  When the hunt came to a close, these were the results:

1st Place - Team 3
2nd Place - Team 1
3rd Place - Team 2

Congratulations to the Allison's for another great victory.  Mike is going to show us all how to use the paper clip/body block technique to do the close-in work.
