Group,

I have a Yeasu FT8100R that I purchased new about 11 years ago. I bought it
about a year as a mobile rig, and then when I started back to college I put
it in a box. I took it out of the box about 2 years ago when I started
getting back into amateur radio and it worked fine until a few months ago.

Now, when I key the mic on 2-meters, the display scrambles and the radio
gets stuck on transmit. You have to power it down and restart it to clear
this. Sometimes, when you are listening to 2-meters, such as the net
tonight, the radio will just stop receiving any 2-meter channels. I have
done extensive research on the internet as to what the cause or problem is,
and it seems like this is a fairly common problem with this radio.

The 70cm side works great and I have never had any problem with that band on
this radio.

I'm hoping that Santa will bring me a new dual band rig for the shack this
year, so I was going to wait until then to do anything with this radio, but
tonight when it quit, I was tempted to take it out to the range with a high
powered rifle and put it out of my misery! Now that I have calmed down a
bit, I would like to pose these questions, in order of preference, to the
group:

1. Does anyone have any experience with this radio and its problems and can
fix them? I do not have the time, patience, or tools to fix this.

2. Would anyone be interested in a trade, single band 2-meter mobile rig
for what is essentially a 70cm mobile rig, keeping in mind this radio does
have issues.

3. Would anyone like to make me an offer for this radio and attempt to fix
it themselves?

Please let me know at the e-mail address below.
