Hey Everyone,
I am wanting to do an experiment to see how far I can shoot 802.11b
wireless Ethernet via line of site. I have one of the antennas from my
old account with the (now defunct) Sprint Broadband service. I have done
a little research and found that they are designed to provide 32 ± 2 dB
of gain in the MMDS band.
MMDS : 2.500 - 2.686 GHz
802.11b : 2.400 - 2.473 GHz
As luck would have it, they appear to be very well suited for the 2.4GHz
802.11b band as well.
If anyone out there has one of the diamond shaped antennas on your house
and are willing to part with it, I'd be giddy to come out to remove it
and patch the screw holes in your house for you.
I believe that I need more than two because I am going to have to cut
them open and remove the MMDS downconvertor, xceiver and filters before
I can use them. I expect to destroy one figuring out how to do that, but
I might get lucky.
For those of you interested, it is a California Amplifier model 2240-100
Planar Array. Specifications are at...

Thanks in advance.
